SLM Solutions
Visualization & Rendering

The highly extravagant exhibition model with its special add-on structures was developed into a cost-optimized yet cleanly designed series-production machine. In close coordination with SLM, we explored what was technically feasible and economically viable. This allowed the original design to be refined further and distinctive design features to be defined for future SLM models.

Design Development
The main challenge was transferring the key design features of the exhibition model into a 'reduced' series-production version that had to be more economical to manufacture.
The staircase, previously clad in glass, and the base were designed with a parametric perforation pattern that visually lightens the large volume.
The iconic product graphics of the exhibition model were retained for the series version and adapted to the new housing volume.
The large corner radii along the upper housing edges could be retained; they give the housing direction and contribute significantly to a coherent and clean overall appearance.

Tank frame & safety cage
For a specificapplication a tank frame must be positionable on the upper section of the machine.
This frame had to be removable using a forklift or craneand accessible via a platform on the machine. Technical aspects were just as important here as ergonomic and aesthetic considerations.
For safe operation of the machine, a standards-compliantcage also had to be developed to protect people in the immediate vicinity.
